August Meeting with Mike Faulkenberry

The next meeting of the CCGOP at 7:00 on August 8, at the Cleveland Memorial Library, 104 Howie Street, Shelby.

Our speaker is Mike Faulkenberry with Convention of States Project who will share information about the Constitution and how and amendment is added.

Mike Faulkenberry is the NC State Director for the Convention of States Project.   As a lover of liberty he supports the Founder’s original intent regarding the Constitution, including all of Article V.

Mike is a Christian father of two sons and a native North Carolinian.  He is a retired Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Captain and a current small business owner.  Mike is a firearms dealer, an NRA certified pistol instructor and teaches the NC Concealed Carry Class.  He also does background investigations for various federal, state, and local entities as part of their hiring processes.

2016 Reagan Day Dinner

The Cleveland County Republican Party will hold its annual Reagan Day Dinner on April 16 at 6 PM, at the Earl Scruggs Center in Uptown Shelby. Guest speaker will be Senator Thom Tillis.

CCGOP Precinct Meetings & Convention

The Cleveland County Republican Party is holding precinct meetings and county convention on March 12, at the Cleveland County Extension Building Auditorium at 130 S. Post Road in Shelby.

All registered Republicans are invited and encouraged to participate.  Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 9 a.m.  Precinct meetings begin at 9 a.m., immediately followed by the county convention.  Registration fee is $5.

During the precinct meetings, voters select precinct officers and delegates to the county convention.

During the county convention, delegates will elect delegates to the District and State GOP Conventions. Delegates to these conventions must be elected at the county convention.

Next Meeting February 8

The speaker for the February 8th meeting will be Michele Nix NCGOP Vice Chair.

Michele Nix was elected to the position of Vice Chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party in June, 2015. Michele ran on a campaign platform of initiating a team of Grassroots Republican activists to engage minorities and youth voters to ensure a Republican victory in 2016 in the swing state of North Carolina. Since being elected Michele has visited over 50 counties in North Carolina, attending or speaking at county meetings, district meetings, and fundraisers. Michele’s goal is to impact all 100 counties by building coalitions and strengthening the Republican message.

Next meeting January 11 with Judge Dietz

The next meeting of the Cleveland County GOP will be on January 11.

Judge Richard Dietz of the N.C. Court of Appeals will present a program on the U.S. Supreme Court, including background on the justices, noteworthy cases coming in 2016, and his own experience at the High Court.  Judge Dietz is one of a small number of N.C. lawyers to have personally argued in the U.S. Supreme Court.  He represented the gun owner in the major gun rights case of the 2013 term of the Court.

Judge Dietz will be on the ballot in 2016 running to keep his seat on the Court of Appeals.  After graduating first in his law school class at Wake Forest University, Judge Dietz went on to become one of the best known appeals lawyers in the State.  He handled high-profile cases ranging from billion dollar appeals for Fortune 500 companies to groundbreaking constitutional cases for high school students.  He is a board certified specialist in appellate practice and has been ranked as one of the State’s “Super Lawyers” and “Legal Elite.”  Governor McCrory appointed Judge Dietz to fill a vacancy on the Court of Appeals in 2014.  You can learn more at his website www.DietzforCourt.com

Christmas Social December 14

The CCGOP will not hold a regular meeting in December. Instead, please join us for a Christmas Social to congratulate Senator Debbie Clary on being inducted into the NCGOP Hall of Fame, at 216 S. Lafayette Street in Shelby on December 14th  at 6 PM. The cost for Christmas Social will be $30 per person with cash bar provided. Clary named to NCGOP Hall of Fame

Shelby native Debbie Clary was one of 16 activists and supporters of the North Carolina Republican Party to be inducted into the NCGOP Hall of Fame on Saturday.

The members welcomed into the hall of fame on Saturday were inducted for their hard work and dedication to the party.
