Hal Weatherman To Speak At April 14 Meeting

Hal Weatherman, Chief of Staff to Lieutenant Governor Dan Forest, will be our guest speaker on Monday, April 14, 2014, at 7:00 PM.  Hal’s presentation outlines the battle that we face as Republican activists during the campaign season. His strategies for building a conservative grassroots movement will be helpful as we prepare for upcoming campaign efforts.  CCGOP’s regular meetings are held in the County Administration Building, Commissioners’ Chambers from 7:00 – 8:00 PM.  Located at 311 E. Marion St. in Shelby.

Also, don’t forget, the Cleveland County Republican Party will hold its annual Reagan Day Dinner on April 26 from 5:30 until 8 PM, at the Neal Senior Center,100 TR Harris Drive in Shelby. Guest speaker will be Retired USMC Lt. Col. and Fox News Military Analyst Bill Cowan. Tickets are $50 each and may be purchased HERE.

CCGOP Meeting, March 10

The Women Republicans of Cleveland County is sponsoring March’s CCGOP program.  They are hosting a Candidates Forum.  There will be a meet and greet with the candidates starting at 6:00 p.m. on the main floor of the Cleveland County Administration Building, followed by the forum at 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. in the Commissioners Chambers.

The Executive Committee will not hold a meeting this month.

Teenage Republicans partner to prepare food for fellow students in need

In January, Shelby High School guidance counselor Tammy Hollifield put out a plea for help.

The backpack program, which provided food on the weekends for a handful of students in need, had grown to include about 20 students. Each week, she and Career Development Coordinator Ronda Branch filled two grocery carts with food and packed bags for homeless and hungry students.

The program started last year with the help of the school’s social worker. But Shelby High School lost a social worker position because of funding. Without the social worker and her connections, Hollifield and Branch were struggling.  COMPLETE ARTICLE HERE

Next meeting Feb 10

The next General Meeting of the CCGOP is scheduled for Monday, February 10, 2014, and will be held at the Cleveland County Administration Building in the Commissioners Chambers at 7:00 pm.  Our Speaker will be Eric Albrecht.  He is the Regional Field Director for the NCGOP.  Mr. Albrecht will be discussing the NCGOP’s BOOTS on the GROUNDeffort..  This is a neighborhood focused grassroots driven, volunteer approach to keeping North Carolina red in 2014 and beyond.  As you know, the Senate race coming up is crucial for North Carolina and the country, and we are preparing early for victory!  So come out and learn how to organize your neighborhood and precinct.

Dr. Franklin Freeman to speak on January 13

D. Franklin Freeman, PhD, noted author, conservative political strategist, entrepreneur, veteran and the current Secretary of the Republican National Hispanic Assembly of North Carolina will be the special speaker the Cleveland County GOP’s regular meeting on Monday January 13 at 7pm in the Commissioners Chambers at the Charlie Harry Cleveland County Administrative Building at 311 East Marion St. in uptown Shelby.

The focus of Dr. Freeman’s presentation will be the importance of Republican’s engaging the growing Hispanic population in North Carolina and relating with them the conservative ideals of the Republican party. It is his contention that the vast majority of Latino and Hispanic families in North  Carolina hold most of the same conservative values that are compatible with the conservative Republican world view and that republicans must embrace this important component of our changing North Carolina population with core conservative principles..

Franklin is  the president and managing Director of Synergie Professional Services, LLC a, management consulting firm that provides organizational development/financial and human resources consulting. Dr. Franklin is a Disabled veteran and spent eight years in the US Army before entering the private sector. He has a strong community service background working with ASPIRA of North Carolina, a Latino non- profit focusing on youth education and leadership development. He also sits on the Mecklenburg County Small Business and entrepreneurship Advisory Board, Town of  Huntersville  Planning Board, the United Way of the Carolinas- Community Investment Council and many other community and statewide boards.
